We design roofs for 75-150 psf snow load, with reinforced rafters and proper load distribution. Steep roof pitch (8:12 or steeper) helps shed snow before it accumulates to critical weight.
Temperature swings from +60°F to -20°F cause constant expansion and contraction. This stresses wood, concrete, and connections. Proper ventilation and bake-and-breathe cycles prevent moisture from freezing inside the structure. Vapor barriers must be continuous and sealed.
