This was the first custom outdoor sauna we completed at Tahoe Sauna Company — an 8×8 cedar sauna in South Lake Tahoe built around a Harvia M3 wood-burning stove. The client was hands-on with construction, which helped keep costs down, and we handled everything from heater sizing and bench layout to ventilation clearances and combustion air planning. A wood-fired sauna doesn't need electricity to run, which makes it a good fit for off-grid setups or anyone who wants a traditional Finnish sauna experience with real fire and natural convection airflow. The build has held up reliably through multiple Tahoe winters with heavy snow loads and freeze-thaw cycles.
