Bend sits at 3,600 feet in Oregon's high desert. Winters drop below 0°F, summers are dry and warm in the 80s and 90s, and the air stays low-humidity year-round. That combination is ideal for sauna. The dry air makes the heat feel lighter, and winter cold plunging is as good as it gets when you're surrounded by Cascade peaks.
We design saunas that work in this environment. Our plans account for cold-weather insulation, frost-depth foundations, roof loads for 30+ inches of annual snow, and ventilation tuned for dry air. Whether you're building a standalone outdoor sauna on your property or converting a space inside your home, we deliver construction-ready documents your contractor can bid and build from.
Bend winters regularly hit single digits and below zero. We specify R-21+ wall insulation and R-30+ ceiling insulation with proper vapor barriers. Foundations extend below the local frost depth (typically 2–3 feet). The dry air is actually an advantage — it speeds heat-up time and keeps moisture problems in check.
Central Oregon averages 30–40 inches of snow per year, with occasional heavier dumps. Roof framing is designed for 40–60 psf ground snow load depending on your specific site. Standard pitch works fine — you don't need the steep roofs required in heavy snowfall zones.
Bend is an outdoor town. Most of our Bend clients want freestanding outdoor saunas with a cold plunge setup nearby. We design for that — including site orientation, drainage, changing room flow, and proximity to water features or plunge tubs.
Our design packages give your contractor everything needed to build confidently. Each package is tailored to your specific site, goals, and climate conditions.

We start with a conversation about your space, goals, and budget. Indoor or outdoor, electric or wood-fired, 2-person or 8-person — we figure out what makes sense for your situation. From there, we develop detailed construction documents: floor plans, elevations, framing details, foundation specs, electrical layout, and a complete materials list.
You take those documents to local Bend-area contractors for bids. Clear plans mean accurate quotes and fewer surprises during construction.
We serve homeowners and contractors across central Oregon, including Bend, Redmond, Sunriver, Sisters, La Pine, and surrounding areas. We work remotely via video calls and email, so location doesn't limit the quality of the design. If you're building a sauna in central Oregon, we can help.
We handle the design and technical planning. We can also connect you with a licensed contractor in the Bend area for construction.
Bend's dry high desert climate is excellent for both indoor and outdoor saunas. The low humidity means outdoor saunas dry out quickly between sessions, reducing maintenance. We design for cold winter temperatures and specify insulation accordingly.
